During School Year
Identify At-Risk Students
Before diving into the processes involved in Identify At-Risk Students, we encourage your team to ensure your technical infrastructure is ready for this effort. In the case where you aren’t sure, this checklist will generate a set of questions you can ask the district or provider for clarity. In the case where you know the system(s) cannot do something, this checklist offers considerations for building workaround solutions.

Identify During First Grading Period
Identifying at-risk students during the first grading period requires teams and technology to collaborate to ensure data is available and accurate so that technology can be leveraged to report on and better understand students who have crossed thresholds. Then, teachers and counselors can analyze these reports to initiate targeted interventions.
Identify During Remaining Grading Periods
Identifying at-risk students throughout the year requires teams to continue ensuring data accuracy as they did during the first grading period, but also provides the chance to review intervention impact and adjust if needed.
Identify Threshold Trigger Patterns
Identifying and analyzing threshold trigger patterns is a great opportunity for technical and data systems to support student success teams in understanding the “why” behind patterns in the data.
Evaluate Thresholds
By evaluating thresholds throughout the year, student success teams can continuously weigh and adjust thresholds based on changing students needs or district strategy.
